40D, 600mm, 1/1000sec f/5.6, ISO 400 Massive crop. How much crop can you get away with? This one is nearing 50%.

Looks like a bale of hay!

Wow love the action and the pose.

Putting the bird back in the frame would help, more room in front, and the head looks a little hot. Would not crop it much more, but maybe a little more might help.

As long as it holds up and nobody says "Itss a big Crop" I dont see a problem.

Robert nailed the critique; thanks ROT! Was the bird in the lower right corner of the frame in the ORIG?

The bird was a little right of center. There was a tree branch in the lower right corner. I guess I took the lazy way out by cropping to get rid of the branch instead of PS'ing it out.

If you post the full frame image I would be glad to make a suggestion.

Hi Jeff, This would be the pretty much standard crop for the image. Cloned out just a bit of the tree that was left.

Nice pose. Nits already made.

This image looks too familiar. Were you in Florida recently. St. Pete to be exact? If I didn't know better...I'd think you were shooting with the gang from Nikon Cafe at their annual Merritt Island shoot get together. Here is my shot from last week. Eagle w/ Moss (http://www.pbase.com/blindmustangpilot/image/92909008)

Perhaps they are cousins ? :D Thanks. Didn't think I met you at MI5 shootout. Neat birds. Look forward to seeing more of your shots.
