I really like the angle of flight, showing the feather detail nicely. Lovely wingspread, and like the eye contact. Well captured Jim.

Truly amazing flight shot. Love the dorsal view with plenty of feather detail. Sharpness looks spot on. I know how hard it is to get one of these and you nailed man. Congrats

Nicely done. I tried to get these guys at Raccoon Ridge in NJ a week ago, without much success. This one is banking nicely for you, and very sharp.

Jim, this is really nice buddy. You put down the 500?

Jim, this is really nice buddy. You put down the 500?

I was letting Kevin use it on my other 1D3 body. He is going to get a 500mm and wanted to really try it out first. Part of the time I was there my 500mm was at Canon service. One of my 1D3s was stuck to the lens (broken pin). I borrowed Artie's 500mm and used it while mine was in the shop. I'm still married to the 500mm. Just don't tell my other wife I said so. Canon replaced the shutter in my 1D3 and they said the old shutter had over 300,000 acuations on it. Not bad for a little over 2 years.

Jm, you a 100% sure this is not a Coop? Small eye for a Sharpie.

Jm, you a 100% sure this is not a Coop? Small eye for a Sharpie.

I'm no expert on the subtle difference between the small male Coop and the Sharpie, but this bird acted more like a Sharpie and it's head was small compared to the Juvie Coops we were seeing a lot of. I think it's a Sharpie but I'm not positive. I'll check with Kevin.

I don't want to turn this into an I.D. post but I agree with Sharpie. Very small beak for a cooper, and body posture has Sharpie written all over it, Sharply bent elbows and head tucked into shoulders.

Lovely Jim! As posted above, "what's not to like?". Using the 300? I aspire to take shots like that with mine. Great job.

Wonderful backside feather detail and head turn!
Can I assume this is a Cape May image? If so, I understand its a fine fall raptor photography location.
