Taken on a trip to Ricketts Glen yesterday with our club(NWPLI). Weather turned out good compared to what was forcast and also had the good fortune to run into Roman as well. Always good to see fellow BPNers. Being rather new to landscape photography I am interested in anything anyone can offer. This one had some bright spots which I attempted to correct using Fabs method of fixing some highlights. Also cropped a bit off the bottom as I felt there was too much foreground.

200ISO F22 at 1/3sec.

Hi Joe, Ricketts Glen is a great place to shoot falls(so many of them) First off the image is tilting to the right so I would apply some CCW rotation to level it. Secondly, I would crop the image from the top to just above the curved branch. Finally the whites are pretty blown in the image. I realise you were there with your club and were dealing with strong sunlight but the best time to shoot waterfalls is on an overcast day. That way you get even lighting with no highs and lows...

Hey Joe,
Nice running into you the other day! In my next life I want to come back as a weatherman.........90% chance of rain....yeah, right!
I agree with Dave's recommendations on the brightness and top crop.....it's tough to get the water w/o blown highlights in that light.....serious movement of the histogram away from the right......but it may not have helped. I lucked out at that fall and had it w/o sun.....made all the difference. Overcast is best for waterfalls....it evens out the tones nicely.Did you use a polariser?

Thanks Roman and Dave. When I did the Post Processing on this image I think the pain killers taken due to the excesive hiking this 65 year old did on Sunday clouded my vision. Now that I look at it with a clear head I think it is BAD!!!! I'm not a landscape specialist , but I'd like to think I can produce alot better stuff than this. See what you think of my next waterfall image coming very soon. Thanks to you both for your kind remarks.
