One of the first images I captured with the new 500mm a few months back. Don't have the specs with me at the moment (sorry) - will post them later.

Canon 20D, 500f/4 & 1.4x TC, tripod and Wimberley Sidekick.

Thanks for looking.

I would try to tone down the brighter areas on the Kingfisher and also the perch. Otherwise a very nice image! The bird looks rather content :-)

Hi Dean,

The light looks a little harsh. I do like the composition and colors on this one. Perhaps playing with curves will help the contrast.

Dean I like the perch, pose and BG in this image but I agree with Dan and Maxis about the brightness.

Love the pose, the BG. The light is harsh and the whites on the bird and the perch look a little hot.

Thanks for all the comments. I had been photographing them feeding young in a nest and this was as I was leaving (due to the harsh light)...but when it landed next to me like that I had to have a go!

Have quickly (as I'm at work;)) adjusted the curves and sh-h to try to accomodate your suggestions. Thanks again.

Very nice adjmustment Dean, this has brought out the buff colours on the underside of this bird nicely as well.

Could get rid of some noise in the BG and lighten the eye a touch.

Nice Compo!

Hi Dean, adjustments improve the shot a lot. A lot more dertail evident in both the chest and white area above the wings. I would try and reduce BG noise a little. My experience with these birds, never let a chance go by, well done.
