Very curious kestrel speeding by for a look-see. Shot with Canon MIII, 400 5.6 on a bushhawk at 1/1600, f8 at ISO 400.

Great eye contact on a speedy little flyer. Nice sharpness. The bird feels a little tight in the frame, and I'd give it a bit more room on the left.

This is a difficult shot you got, sharp and nice, agree it's a bit tight, excellent otherwise.

Not an easy capture Bill. Very well done. The eye contact is great. On my monitor the image looks a little too sharpened (notice the halo on the chin and upper breast).

The shallow bank provides a wonderful view of the upperwing colours and plumage patterns, I like the eye contact too.

I like the flight angle, and well done on capturing a very fast flyer. I think you have exposed the colours nicely.

Very neat shot Bill. Good angle and details and a tickle with some TLC on a couple of points raised will polish this nicely.

I agree it is a bit tight....but sweet nonetheless!

great detail and timing here...sharpening mentioned - to me it also feels like a large crop?

You did a great job catching this bird in flight. They are so quick. Love the head angle, details, sharpness and pose. I think the crop works but it never hurts to try it a bid wider and compare.

Beautifully captured for such a speedy fellow. Exactly what I had hoped, but failed, to achieve at Raccoon Ridge in NJ on Sunday. Nicely done! Another vote for a bit more flying room on the left.

Thanks for all the great comments :)

... on the crop - it was not a crop at all but a reduction, even though it was a small bird :o
... and I tend to tightly crop most of my photos, my style I guess?
