I was playing with the trial version of Aperture 2 and decided that this image would be fun.

So far, I'm really liking some features of A2, and I am having trouble finding my way around others without a manual. The jury is still out. Looks like the S / H adjustment in A2 introduced a little bit of a halo around the neck, but the sign back there was VERY over exposed. . .

Hi Jim,

I like the raised foot pose of this Canada Goose, but the sign detracts from the image, IMO. If you use the S/H tool selctively on just the bird and contract your selction by 1 or 2 pixels, you can avoid halos. Anopther way is to use a quickl mask with a soft brush to selct the area for S/H tool application.

Jim, nice bird but not much to say about the sign. I see the leg band. Are these birds being studied?

Maybe I should have posted it in OOB ;) The sign was the whole point of the photo. I was trying (not successfully) to be funny :D

As for halos, Aperture does not allow (at least that I've seen yet on the trial) for selective adjustments. . .

I'm not sure what is up with the bands, but just about all the canada geese at this location (Burke Lake, VA) are banded.

Jim, I'll try again - nice sign, bird's gotta go.

Just kidding! I actually sort of knew the sign was for fun but it's Friday PM and my mind is wasted.

Jim,

I chuckled. But you are definitely watching too much Law and Order!

Jim I'm sure the goose was just trying to see if he would measure up !!!!

btw saying there is some halo is an understatement Hope you work around the problems They used to have the best tutorials Would do a search to cut down the learning curve !!!

Thanks, I'll look for some of the old tutorials (watched all the new ones). So far it's decent but not enough to make me pay for it and dump Lightroom.

I love your sense of humour Jim and cackled when I saw the thumbnail.
