Here's another photo of an acorn that I converted to tritone. I've found that I prefer tritones to duotones because then I have more control over the color tones. Any C&C are welcome!

Olympus SP-550 UZ
f5.6 @ 1/30, ISO 100, -0.7 EV
Aperture priority mode, pattern metering
Processed in PS CS2; cropped, curves adjustment, channel mixer, converted to tritone, cloned out a number of small white spots in the grass, and darkened the edges just a tiny a bit

tritones are fun.
As a printer, I have many times offset printed dotones and tritones.
This is a nice comp, but IMHO the acorn is a bit bright and lacking
the rounded shape that only highlights and contouring shadows can give.

I just added a bit of shadowing on a 50% gray softlight layer....may or may not
like it.....just a suggestion. I am enjoying your series

Christopher, I too am enjoying your series. Very nice color tones to the image. I like the shadowing that Dave added.(good eye)

Hi Christopher, Nice, simple comp thats effective. One of my favorites of the acorn series with a nice tweak from Dave...

Dave really is on to something here. That soft shadow really added depth and dimension to an already nice image. It's great to see you continuing to play with duotones and tritones, Christopher and I'm with you - duotones aren't quite enough and quadtones are often overkill but those tritones...gotta love 'em!

Christopher, I think Dave's repost really makes it shine. Did you use a pre-fab tri-tone, or make your own??
Great colour scheme and textures.
