Telephoto can be very useful for landscapes. Here's a full frame from one of our nights at YNP after dealing with the Elk.
Model: Canon EOS-1D Mark III
Lens (mm): 600/4
ISO: 3200
Aperture: 4
Shutter: 1/4000
Exp. Comp.: +1.0

And yes, I do own a Canon 600/4 and a 1d3 :) Bought them bu the side of the road in Jackson :D

Very nice work Fabs as always. The moon looks wonderful and I like the way the silhouetted foreground sets it off. Very nicely done.

Hi Fabs,
Did have to see if it was a misprint with the Mark lll:D.....nice use of the ridgeline to contrast the moon and the slight bit of clouds add to the mood. Nicely done!

Very nice comp and colours Fabs. I like it a lot. Just curious as to the high ISO and SS?? Nice to have Al there for the equipment switch:)

I was working on the Elk on the ground on Av and just moved the lens up. The cloud was moving fast, so no time to re-adjust.
Equipment is mine, btw :D
Bought by the side of the road on the trip.

Thanks!!

GOod composition with the strong diagonal of the treeline and well placed moon.

Nice shot. Great composition and I like the mood that the hovering cloud adds. (I've looked for full moon silhoutte possibilities in Yellowstone in the past and come up lacking) Nice job.
