While flying for fun in a cessna 152 I spotted this marsh. It is very unique for this part of arkansas near lake ouachita. Drove there and had a blast doing macro. I will definitely make it back for the fall colors.

Cool image and the many shades of green and blue is awesome. Many thanks for the background history too.

agree with judy, lots of cool shades of blues and greens. i might crop just a bit off the top to eliminate the lake? that is in the upper left of the frame.

i'd bet this place would be great to photograph the fall colors. cant wait to see what you come up with!

Daniel,

Welcome to BPN and the landscape forum. Agree with the others on this looking like a good place to photograph. Agree with cropping/cloning the wing out.

I suggest that you try two things in processing the image - reverse s-curve to lower contrast which will desaturate the greens too and then a local contrast enhancement. Both procedures can be found in my tutorial here http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20434.

The LCE does increase contrast but does so by adding clarity to the image - good many times for aerial photography or when fog and haze is present.

Thank you Robert for the information. This is why this forum appealed to me and I appreciate you taking time to steer me in the right direction.

Hi Daniel,
Welcome to the forum! I agree with the others on the wing and also with Robert's suggestions on the contrast. If possible please post the specs (SS, f-stop, lens, etc.) so that we can also add a bit more to an evaluation......I do have 2 questions for you.....are you doing the flying?....and was it possible to zoom in more on the trees.....I like the inclusion of the entire marsh but making the trees in the center a bit more prominant by zooming in was the way to go.......some food for thought on the fall flight! I do also realize that if you are flying and photographing.....not the easiest thing to do and quite the challenge.... so staying wider and cropping down may also work.

sorry for delay in responding. I was photographing a balloon rally.

Here is another view of the marsh as I banked around it in a cessna 152.(a small 2 seat highwing airplane)
specs=f-6.3 16mm tokina lens on a d200 1/160s iso 100.
Being by myself I can open the right window and shoot out of it.
zooming in close is a whole lot harder and requires a fast shutter speed but not impossible.
I prefer shooting wide angle. I very seldom look through the viewfinder so i can safely fly the plane.
I followed your advice on this photo and agree the first photo wasn't properly edited
