I photographed this image at Fairchild Tropical Gardens on tripod with my Canon 40D. ISO 400, f/8.0, 1/50 sec, Sigma 80-400mm, 250mm, Evaluative Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. I used Topaz Remask to allow the background to be blurred and then PS flashlight to accent the orchid. Comments or questions are welcome.....

Nice work, it almost looks 3-D. Love the colors and the water drops coming off the petals. Great job:)

love the spotlighting. only thing that bothers me is the transition from the bottom petal to the darker area. looks like a huge halo instead of a nice transition to darkness. other than that, well done!!!!

Hi Mr. Waas,
I like the composition and capture...the colors are spot on and I like the glow...would recommend eliminating the glow on the top of the flower in the dark area...looking forward to your next one...

Hi Richard - composition and colours are v nice, like the spotlight effect on the flower, not crazy about the Halo it produces though.
Good Show :)

I agree. Hard to pinpoint the flashlight and not produce the glow. Maybe this is better. On to the next effect.

Repost is spot on for me Richard - losing the glow makes the flower and colours pop.:D
