Canon EOS-1D Mark II N, Shooting Date/Time 1/26/2008, real early light, from tripod, 8 feet away, cropped for a 11x17, Tv(Shutter Speed) 1/640Sec. Av(Aperture Value) F8.0, Evaluative metering, Exposure Compensation +1/3, ISO 400, Lens EF300mm f/2.8L IS USM, Focal Length 300.0 mm, something different for me here.

We dont ever get this close in Maine, ever. The glades are unique, I hope it never changes. From Anhinga Trail just at the first rail on the left. I still get goose bumps when I recall the trip. We now have over 100 inches of snow. My elbows hurt from the shoveling and raking of snow. And this week is full of all kinds of it.

I really like the light and the colors!

Wonderful light. I like the pose of the bird and head turn parallel to the camera. I would try taking a bit more room of the top.

Beautiful light and BG colors. I would likely crop some off the left side.

You captured some great light on this Egret, Grady. Really well done. I agree with the suggestions to adjust the crop. I went ahead and modified the image and attached it below. I added some canvas to the right and layed down some third lines just for everyone's reference.

Very nice Gary. Sometimes we here in Florida take a lot for granted when it comes to getting close to egrets and herons. You've got a real winner here with super lighting and a very pleasing subject.
