Love the sky and the look. And the bird. As this would seem an obvious candidate for a tighter crop I am guessing that it is already cropped a bit. Correct?

ps: Welcome!

Welcome to BPN Alroy, Excellent wing and tail spread. Head angle is great and I love the BG. I too wish he was a bit bigger in the frame. I hope to someday photograph all these wonderful Raptors I'm seeing from S. Africa. Congrats

Welcome!
My only suggestion would be to give the image a Panoramic crop, given the pose of the bird IMO it would work better. Nice light, species, BG and colors.
Congratualitons!

Alroy you were wide awake to get the Lanner at Giants Castle, well done, have not seen you at Randburg for a while, is school keeping you busy.

Welcome to BPN Alroy. Crop mentioned, but lovely angle and back drop. As mentioned, done well to get this from GC, as normally I see only Buzzards, Vultures, Ravens and Jackals. WD!

Reminds me of the time when Lanners were regulars at Giants Castle..:-) Welcome Alroy, great background, nice light, wish only it was a tad bigger in the frame.

This shot looks great as it is. A tight crop would create a nice portrait, but it would lose the sense of habitat. The out-of-focus Drakenburg mountain background with winter-colour highveld grasses, places the lanner firmly in its mountain habitat.
