Greetings from Yellowstone! I've had great landscape skies since I arrived Tuesday and this morning the trend continued. This was from last night just as the sun was setting. I had to pump up my ISO as I stacked 5 stops of grad ND filters to bring up the drama in the sky and tame the highlights. I also wanted a bit of speed to retain a bit of definition in the eruption.
Canon 1D Mark lll with the 28-135mm lens at 28mm at f20 for 1/250 sec. and ISO 800. All tripod mounted on Graf Studioball and bubble level in hot shoe. I used noise ninja in PP'ing.

looks like an alien landscape Roman. Love it. My type of skies.

Excellent image of a wonderful little geyser (one of my favorites). I really like the lighting on the geyser cone and spray. And I agree with Michael on the alien landscape - but then much of Yellowstone is like that. Can't wait to see more from your trip.

Really awesome Roman! I love the sky and the eruption. The bit of blue in the sky is nicely illuminated.

Really an excellent capture with skies, foreground and the geyser cone wonderfully balanced and creating a dramatic and absorbing image. The image has lost nothing to the processing with Noise Ninja.

An excellent composition in all aspect. The wonderful light, the sky and the dramatic nature of the geyser, all adds to it.

Roman the sky in this image is great. The eruption is well placed in the frame. I can't find anything to suggest. Considering you stacked 5 filters the detail and IQ is great. I have always wondered if the flat resin of the GNDs deteriorate the IQ?

This is just wonderful, Roman. I love the sky and light on the geyser. This is also one of my favorite geysers.

oh wow this is high impact stuff Roman! everything here just works - and if you can get rid of the halo (I'm sure you can!) it'll be even better. love the low angle and the effect you achieved with the grads...

I love this image, Roman. I am really loving the split ND filters for just these reasons. You use them to great effect. Do you have a whole library or do you combine them to get 5 stops?
