This is a view of Sultan-Ahmet in Istanbul, Turkey, from a trip back in 2004, it is the second largest structure in the city and perhaps the most magnificent one. Fortunately our hotel had a balcony with a good view where I took this picture, it was quite hazy most of the time except for one afternoon when dramatic light created this scenery. This was one of the few occasions that I was limited by equipment, not my own skills. It was the early days of digital and I had a Nikon D100, which had many limitations. I was running out of memory so I had to use compressed RAW which took more than 45 seconds for the camera to cook!!! I managed to take only two shots before the god rays disappeared and this was the better one. I wish I had my D700 or 5D MKII back then with my current lenses and this would have been a great poster on my wall, nevertheless it still shows this magnificent structure from the Ottoman era.
