Taken in Imperial beach, Ca. The Osprey had this mullet in a streamlined shape, but was still flying a bit slowly due to the weight, I think. I like the look of intense concentration it has. Comments and critiques are very helpful.

Great Capture. I am gld the bird looks better than the fish. :) That is the biggest fish I have every seen an Osprey catch. There is some noise under the left wing. You might lasso that area, feather and do noise reduction there if you think it is best. I can't think of another method off hand,

Chris:

Great capture, both you and the fish. Nice head angle(s) :), comp.
Agree with Peter about the noise under the wing, suspect perhaps it was darker, brought up a bit, thus revealing some noise, since I wouldn't expect a lot with that ISO.

I am starting to see some jagged edges along the leading edge of the upraised primaries on the upper wing, so need to watch your sharpening a bit I suspect.

Thanks for sharing!

This is the largest fish I've seen an osprey with. A very nice shot with good light, I'd play with the noise under the wings.

Thank you guys. I think this is better. Reworked the sharpening and the exposure under left wing.

Chris:

Left wing seems much better. Still a bit of jaggies on primaries, but I am really sensitive to them, and perhaps others won't be bothered.

Really nice.

Very cool capture, for you and the osprey. Repost is much better, but I still see noise on the wings. Was this a large crop?

Thank you, Connie. This was cropped at 33%, so not a large crop. I am having a bit of trouble seeing the noise, but it might be my old eyes. It did print beautifully, however.

What a huge fish. Must have had a hard time lifting this one. Nice comp. and a beautiful sky as a BG. Real fine capture all around.

That's a big fish!
Ospreys certainly understand the principles of aerodynamics. However I've seen some Ospreys that failed to get the fish up out of the water and one time the Osprey got pulled underwater before escaping the fish!
I like this shot.

Thanks, everyone. He flew closer to the ground for quite a distance than I have seen as normal for these guys.
