Another from yesterday's visit to Sandy Hook (NJ). The head angle could be better but I do like the catchlight in the eye on this one.
Canon 50D; 300mm f/2.8L IS w/ 2x TC; tripod-mounted
1/4000 sec @ f/7.1; ISO 640 (could have dropped this down); 0 EV; Sunny WB; natural light

I like the walking pose, sharpness and the fresh juvenile plumage. I'm not entirely sure, the whites look good but the sand seems to have a slight magenta cast. Did you load the latest firmware?

Ed:
Love the stepping out pose, little bits of flying sand. Well exposed, sharp, nice shooting angle, HA mentioned.
There are two catchlights, I might get rid of the smaller one.
Shadow adds to image. Water at top ties him to his environment.
Cheers

I like the walking pose and the two flying bits of sand, angle, sharpness and light.
Agree with you on the HA and the high Iso.

Very good sharpness and active pose. The whites look fine but I agree that there does appear to be a magenta cast.

Ed, I like the walking pose and the sharp details. Nice low angle. The shadow adds interest. Agree w/ your self critique.

Looks good to me! I really like the raised foot. I wonder about darkening the top part a little.

Nice angle. I like the hint of water you left in the BG. I also like the striding pose of the bird, and the slightly turned away head angle seems to fit a walk on the beach as I'd expect him to be looking that way in a search some food.
