This shot is not a portrait and i liked the surroundings so made with the vision as a scape.
can be a vertical crop also but as said my preference more is wide scape with smaller element of bird and perch.

wish you all like it.

First thought. Like it. Second thought. Like it... Superb HA and just love the space. Third thought. Understand immediately the appeal as you say of a vertical but the space adds more for me, so glad you presented this way. :). Fourth thought... too many thoughts, :). Very well done.

Here's where more space makes the bird's small size more powerful.

I like this image as presented. It has a great mood and tells a nice story. Nicely presented.

I like the pose, light, sharpness, perch and BG. A vertical crop would work, too, but I like it as presented and might just crop a bit off the top.

I like the minimalist framing, it really highlights the bird. Excellent exposure and you can't beat the bg.

For me a bird with habitat around speaks more that tight close-ups, very well presented.

Great looking bird!
Love the plant where it is perching. I suggest to crop it vertical. Congrats.
