I like the attentive look and head angle. I find that the BG competes with the subject, I might lighten the head of the bird a bit.

another vote for lightening the bird. lovely detail captured - the lines in the BG form symmetry with the neck.

I agre with the above, plus, I would like to see something done with that distracting green piece of grass going through the body ..

I like the BG texture but would eliminate the sharp grass stem in front of the bird. Agree on lightening the head - fill flash would have achieved that at capture and reduced the risk of noise by opening it up in post. Nice and sharp with good HA.

Agree on the above points. I would add that the white patch in the BG is very distracting. The blacks are also a bit blocked, I would try lightening them.

Good Image. Good Thread. I want those eyes a bit lighter---try a dodging tool sized for the eye and see if that does anything for you.
