I am not used to action bird photography. I tried this wingflap a few weeks back. Please give me your thoughts on overall comp, camera position, wing position, head angle, wing blur, etc... It will be realy helpful to hone my skills.

Rene, comp wise, he could move back a bit to the left, and you could have a little more space on the right. Your angle of capture is good, and well timed to get the flapping wings. The head is nice and sharp too. Overall, good job done Rene.

I agree with the comp suggestion. I prefer wing flap shots with the wings back rather than to the front especially when they are blurred since they tend to blend together. I also prefer a higher shutter speed to freeze the wings and get detail in the feathers. Of course, these are my personal preferences.

I'm usually not a big fan of square crops but I think it works well here. I like the eye contact and motion blur of the wings. The whites look a bit overexposed.
