I came home tonight to an e-mail from a marketing manager of a UK company with five locations asking about "buying" one of my images for use in some collateral pieces they are working on. (I was also asked if it might be royalty free?) I will need to get some additional information like one-time use or unlimited use. I don't want to sell the rights to the image outright but I am willing to sell the right to use the image.

Anyone out there who can offer a range in which I should be thinking for this use of a single image? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

One source, though there are others, is the book "Photographer's Market", by Willins Digest Books. It is published annually and has information on marketing your images, including pricing info. Not a complete as some of the professional pricing guidelines, but accessible and it gives you a heads up. It also has info on the general marketing of images through many outlets, listing contacts and photo submission guidelines. It is available at all good bookstores, as well as probably in many libraries. Mine is from the last century, so I will not quote from it but you can get a good idea of general prices for the many markets in it.

Good Luck and hopefully congratulations.
