Soft light, good wing position to show detail and magic ha with a glint in the eye. I still need a shot of these guys and here you go with this beauty! I know the branches add context but I would remove them.

Love the eye contact and the full down wing position. a shallower angle would have taken this shot to the top.

I like it. The wing pose and the nice head turn makes this image nice.

You can almost see him making sure that you are capturing him taking off. Well timed, and you have controlled the exposure nicely to show detail throughout. Sharp, and as mentioned, great HA. I would have left the take off perch too, just a pity its so scruffy. Great capture Dave.

Superb catch ,but find the twigs distracting and they do not add anything message wise to the image

Thanks to all for looking and for comments.
Stephen and Suzanne I did try one without the take off perch and somehow it does not look right as the bird is clearly in a take off pose. I think it does anchor the image.
