Black-fronted Dotterel photographed in south-western Queensland.

Canon 40D, EF500 f/4 + 1.4 tc, tripod, ISO 200, 1/800, f/8, ec -2/3. Cropped for composition and to remove tilt, also disguised a pale patch in water just above folded wingtips.

Great exposure control and I love all the colors here. Comp is great and I like the FG, gives a hint of environment. I might clean up the water some. Congrats

Very similar to our ringed plover. Good sharp detail, and I like the colours. Super low angle, and if I had to clean up anything, it would be just the small brown blob in the water below the beak. The rest of the water is fine to me. I would maybe also remove the smaller catchlight too.

Very lovely shot Simon, that eye ring is outstanding! You have the focus on the whole bird and I like the subtle ripple pattern across the feathers. I agree about cloning out that brown blob though.

Beautiful bird, good angle, light and sharpness. Another vote for removing one of the catchlights. If it were mine I would crop some off the bottom.
