This little fellow was sitting in on this nice perch after visiting a flower. I took a few pictures. I wish for some more DOF to have the perch all the way in focus. Let me know your thoughts on it. Thanks for looking.

What an expression! Hummers really seem to show their attitudes in images, and you captured this very well. Too me, cropping just a bit more off the bottom would take care of some of that oof perch and also put the hummer at a better eye level. Ofcourse then you might need to take a tad off the top, which to some may place the bird too tight in the frame, but you might give it a try?

I think this would look good as a landscape. The edges of the birds have a highlight that make it appear as if it were pasted onto the canvas, which I know it was not, just appears that way? Great looking bird. BG is fine for me. :)

I too would opt for a landscape crop, wish the broken part of the perch was not there, loved the spot light effect, the details, off course the cute bird, and the Bg looks great.. congrats..

Thanks for the comments and critics. Here is a landscape version. I was also doubting about the crop.

Akos. Of course the BG is natural. I didn't cut and paste the bird. I found this beautiful place 40 km from our house close to Mexico City where I heard and saw a few hundred hummers...this is one of the. BG is a distant shear rock face.

Re-crop is a great fix. Much better image.

I like the inquisitive look, sharpness and also the crop of the repost. There are some spots on the left side that look like clone marks and I wish the branch would not have the crooked part at the end.

Lorant -
Prefer the repost, but IMO too much "space" on the left side. Would crop black space by about 1/2
BKGD, colors of bird, sharpness and contrast compliment each other nicely.

Are you sure about the ID - i think it's a magnificent HB. The Blue throated HB has a much longer, bolder white stripe behind its eye.

Nicely done

Axel, I had to clone out a twig for the landscape crop. It was during the day and I didn't see the bad result on my laptop screen.

Peter, you are right about the ID....I corrected it above. Thanks everyone.
