Crimson Rosella

Spring is in the air and the local Crimson Rosellas are checking out potental nest sites in eucalypt tree hollows.

Amazing colors and bird. Love the green infiltrated between the blues.
There seems to be a purple cast on the bark of the tree, or, is that its color? The beak looks like has some damage, may be from breaking seeds?

Lovely shot Simon. Their colours do develop extra richness at this time of the year but I agree that there is a slight (lilac on my screen) cast.

Very nice Simon. I like the spread tail. I think the bark looks fine as the bird's plumage appears perfectly normal. Perhaps then flash gave it the extra boost in saturation?
