“Uncle Bill”

This curious little guy is Uncle Bill, Papa Joe’s brother who resides in my Pops’ garden, along with the rest of the family. Uncle Bill was painted with a Nikon D3, using a Nikkor 200mm f/4 IF-ED macro lens with a stacked combination of 36mm, 25mm, and 20mm Nikkor extension tubes.

Image Solution:
focal length @ 200mm / exposure mode @ aperture priority / in camera matrix metering / 1/125sec. - f/32 / exposure comp @ 0EV / ISO @ 1200 / white balance @ auto / AF - Mode @ manual / color space @ sRGB / lighting solution - Nikon R1C1 wireless close up speedlight system; both light units set to ¼ lumen burst with a wide dispersal pattern and attached diffuser. / tone comp @ +1 degree / hue adjustment @ +2 degrees / saturation factor @ +2 degrees / support platform – monopod.

Comments greatly appreciated...

Excellent, as usual, Gus. You are truly the Maestro of Macro. But I also want to put in a good word for the names you contrive for your subjects. I'm always interested to see who will appear next -- Uncle Bill, Papa Joe, Little Randy, Lady Amber, Lady Gloria, Lady Star Dust .... You have a lively inner life. :D

Nice image, exposure is spot on. What is the DoF rule 1/3 in ft and 2/3 behind? I would think at f/32 the DoF would be stronger. I assume the stacked tubes and 200mm lens worked against the small aperture?

Love the details of the hairs around the head, very interesting, the pose looks like it is being very cautious.
