Least Sandpiper

Jamica Bay, NY

D3, 600, 1.4TC, ISO 640, f7 @ 1/400.

One from this morning. Not too much you can do with tiny shorebirds, but managed to get this guy calling with his crest up.

Excellent shot! love the feather details and on top of that the calling pose! I see some compression/JPEG blotches in the upper BG the file is only 90KB, should be easy to re-save with higher quality. Thanks for sharing, beautiful capture!

Sweet light, calling pose, and exposure control. Nice HA. Love that reflection too.

Are you with Artie at JBWR?

Yes Aidan. <smile> Alan, where did you find any clean water??? Nice meeting you finally. Love the calling posture and the raised crest. I--and you I suspect--would prefer that the bird be perfectly square to the imaging sensor. See you in a bit at Nickerson.

a really great shot buddy. I am always not sure whether I like reflections or not. They force you to place the bird in a position that is a bit high. However that just my general personal taste and not a nit about this perfect shot :)

Stunning image with the reflection and open beak. The rest has your signature all over it....nice exposure, sharp, detail, nice colors. Big congratulations.

I really like the pose. The calling with the raised crest and stretched neck is very engaging. The bird is sharp, well exposed, and with a strong reflection. Very nice.

Hi Alan: Love the calling pose, the crest up and the reflection. I would remove the small bottom catchlight and the highlight on the beak. Great detail in the whites. Thanks for sharing, Marina
