More fun with my Sigma 150mm 2.8 Macro lens.

Took this at Butterfly World which does not allow tripods or monopods. so the best I can do handheld

(frankly I'm at a loss as to how to shoot outdoor macro shots handheld since movement is inevitable)

Hey Micheal, I couldn't hand hold a shot to save my life, I'm way to shaky. You did a great job on this one. Nice details and BG color contrast very well with the red.

wow I envy you being able to take a shot hand held - I'm with Michael, couldn't do it if my life depended on it, especially a macro!!
I also really like this profile as I most often see these flowers shot head on. Amazing detail, great colours and wonderful dof.

Excellent Michael. Looks tack sharp to me. Composition is great and BG such a nice contrast to the flower's colors.

Excellent. I really like the image and the little curly tried ends. Colors are great.

Flash is the key. The flash has a short duration so that you can leave the camera SS at 1/60th but the flash is capturing detail at something like 1/500 or more. The lower the power setting, the faster the SS effect. I think on 1/128th power the shutter is close equiv to 1/1000th. I cant remember the true numbers.

Outdoor handheld macro flash is one of my favorite types of photography and can fun enough for me to do for most of the day if you are lucky enough for to get some clouds overhead.
