This was taken down at the coast. I liked the light and waited for him to show the perfect HA, which he did. The BG is surf. I was lucky here, as these guys never keep still.

Now that is some sweet light. I love the rock, BG, and exposure. You were a little bit off light angle, but other than that, excellent! One of my favorites of yours.

Well Done!

Hi Stuart,

I really like this rock perch. Nice light and good plumage detail and nice clean BG as well. Congratulations.

I like this one alot Stuart. Neat "perch", and sweet light. The catchlight obstructing most of the pupil kinda bugs me a bit - you could reduce its size some (e.g. take off the lower half of it) to make the black of the pupil more evident. I also what may be some post processing evidence along the top of the perch at right? Still, great comp and subject, and the blue BG really works well here!

Thanks a lot guys. Here is my repost with the smaller catchlight as suggested by Dan.

Dan, I agree the smaller catchlight works better. You are also correct in picking up some pp work on the right. There was an OOF piece of rock that was very distracting, so I cloned it out.

Tack sharp and good light Stu. Repost is good, but so is original post.

Perfect pose, perch, and BG. You couldn't ask for much more from a Ruddy Turnstone. I like what you did with the repost.

Excellent shot Stuart. I love the low angle and the perch is great. The cleaned up catchlight in the eye in the repost looks much better for me too.

Great repost bru. I think this is one of your best images in all honesty. Great light, fantastic pose and wonderful subject. The rock rocks too as a perch. Well done mate! Thanks for sharing.

Oh yeah, the eye is much better now. Most people instinctively go to the eye first thing therefore it is always best to give it proper attention if needed as it gives a better "first impression". Well done Stuart.

I like the angle, sharpness, perch and BG. I might lighten the part of the chest that is not sunlit.
