Here's a ptarmigan chick I photographed about a month ago in Denali National Park, Alaska. I was watching an adult male and female with about 15 chicks and I tried for quite a while to get an isolated shot of one of the chicks. Getting a clean background with such a small subject was difficult but I think this was my best effort. The image is cropped (about 80% of the original frame).

This is great Tim. Love the pose, the diagonal FG and the BG. The only thing I'd do is more NR on the BG. Great eye contact! :)

Beautiful shot. Well exposed, sharp, great composition and background. The OOF stuff in the lower right corner is just slightly distracting. No idea what you could have done different however. I would be proud of this shot.

SH, good EXP. I'd have pointed the lens up about an inch....

Agree with Arthur. That would have taken care of the OOF in the LRC. A bit torn re the head angle. I think I'd prefer if the chick was looking at you straight centered or slightly more away from you such that only one eye is visible.

Great sharpness & colors. JR

Very Cute Chick and I too would have loved some space on top and although this one is looking very cute from a head-on angle, I would have loved a side profile ...
