Hi folks
I apologize if this has been posted before. I thought I'd share and should have ages ago when I first saw it. Corvids (crows, ravens and allies) are extremely intelligent birds. Often, they are not given enough credit. Here is a short clip (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-227232540308192344) of an experiment where you will be amazed to see this corvid's use of tools.

Enjoy! :)

They really are smart. I read an article the other day claiming that crows can recognize people to distinguish the nice guys from those with guns.

I also liked the Attenborough clip about crows in Japan who get nuts cracked by cars and wait until the pedestrian lights turn green: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7329182515885554944&hl=en

Yeah I got the LIfe of birds set on DVD. I am surprised it hasn't worn out mate. :) We currently have an Australian Raven in care (Corvus coronoides) - reputedly the fourth most intelligent animal after a dolphin. Or so they tell me, the experts that is. It is a stunning bird. I'd LOVE one as a tame, wild (of course) pet. Well if you know what I mean. :D
