I know loads of Puffins have been showed on the forum over the last weeks. I hope this one can add to the excellent previous posts. I went for a different look on this one. I tried to use the less than ideal BG to my advantage. There was a yellow flower there which I placed directly behind the head of the Puffin trying to set of the head a bit more than usual.

Tell me what you think,

I like the idea, pose, exposure control and sharpness. The yellow 'halo' adds interest. I would only remove the blueish cast on the chest plumage and maybe lighten the eye a bit.

Agree about blue cast. Love the yellow OOF flower Krijn. That is what made me open the image. Congrats mate! :)

I too love the yellow. Axel's suggestion of lightening the eye would make this much better I think.

The suggestions above are good ones. That said, I want to say I really like the image for its freshness. The yellow halo is great. On my monitor the whites (besides the blue issue) are just a wee bit hot.

I too like the yellow background. Well done with the vision to place the puffin.

Krijn, you achieved your objective by placing the head infront of the flower - just makes this different from the other posts, and makes the head stand out so well. You have exposed the head nicely, but agree with the blue cast on the chest. Lovely colour and detail these guys have.

Great positioning, I can see the blue cast and now wonder what it is caused by as the rest of the whites are OK on my monitor.

very well composed.
one question as i never seen this cant say i am sure but what's that blue cast over to the breast part. if its cast you can easily tone down to match the head tone.
