I re-processed this shot from earlier this summer...

I laid on the beach rocks for an hour, waiting for a swimming puffin to come close enough. Finally this one came close enough for me to shoot a few frames. Minutes later, all of his friends followed him. Some of them actually sat on the beach rocks, about 1 meter away from me...

really wonderful shot love the exposure both the blacks and whites look good on my monitor, it looks as though it may need a tiny ccw rotation

Very lovely. Perfect HA, EXP spot on, and even a highlight in the eye. Francis Bossé posted one the other day. He was in the water but you had an even lower angle than he did! I like the calm water but would have preferred the bird a bit smaller in the frame.

Angle and exposure control look great, I also like the sharpness and calm water. I agree regarding CCW rotation and if it were mine, I would remove the lower catchlight and lighten the eye a bit.

Agree with all comments. Just needs some room to the right to swim into. Congrats.

Marvelous image Jóhannes. A real treat to see a puffin in its element- water! I wouldn't change anything in the image.

Great to have someone on BPN from Iceland. Been there twice. Love the country and people.

I like the low angle and the calm water. Very nice. I agree that a bit smaller in the frame would allow a bit more breathing room for the bird. Still a very strong image.

This angle is even better than Francis ... I like the feeling of closeness this tight crop conveys but also feel it will be equally refreshing to see a composition with more water around

Super angle Johannes, and well exposed. I like the colour of the water too. Well captured.

Love the low angle - not a perspective you often see with this species

cheers

Excellent angle of view! I love it. A bit more room all around and you have a winner! :)
