A common local wader, though quite a small bird. I sneaked upon this one at a place called Pitt Town Lagoon. A good spot for waterbirds.

30D, 300/4L + 1.4x, ISO400, f/8, 1/800th, 70% of original.

I like the angle, sharpness, wide crop and eye contact. I would tone down the whites a bit more.

Lovely sharpness and I like the pose with the bent leg. Agree that the whites look hot but I am on an uncalibrated monitor at work. OOF grass touch the bill tip is a small distraction that would be patchable if so inclined.

Thanks fellas. On my laptop at home the whites seemed fine, though there were no blown highlights that I could see in ACR with the enabled settings, I did not check the histogram once importing into PS. Appreciate your inputs very much. Thanks. :) Tony, I am on my work monitor now and the whites look shocking! :)

Wicked bird and wicked sharp. You might have better dealt with the cluttered grasses (right) and the clipped REFL by goind VERT for the original capture....

Yes, this is nice Ákos. I think the balance between the subject and the habitat is very good here- in other words the habitat is there but for me not overpowering. I only wish that little green plant was not right in front of the bill of the bird.

Looks like I will undertake some hocus pocus and make that green blob disappear later. Thanks for looking and for the feedback folks! :)

Getting down and dirty has given you a great low angle here. Good light, detail, and sharpness, and the comp looks good too. Well captured mate.

Very sharp image well composed ! I'd have like to see the leg a little bit higher to see the mud on it but it's only my dreams ;) Congrats for this capture Akos !

Dom :)

Wow the bird is so sharp and has super detail and colour. Only wish for a less busy BG.

Cracking shot Akos Bhai! Like the inclusion of the habitat and comp. Bit of TLC and it'll polish nicely.

Thanks for all the constructive suggestions. I burned the whites on the throat, removed the bill killing green fluff and even tried to tidy up its reflection. Hope it's better. :)

Thanks again!

Sharpness is outstanding Akos. Like the pose of the bird. Tend to agree with the rest on the grass part. I like the original post.
