Nothing special species-wise (young Mallards), but I can't resist it when opportunities arise! It's becoming difficult to capture something different with this species, but this one does it for me. I also have a frame with the front bird looking directly towards me, but felt this one was a little more dynamic. Hope you like the unconventional comp (especially with the front bird looking out of the frame)...this is the way that felt the most balanced to my eyes.

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority. evaluative metering, 1/640s., f/7.1, ISO 800, +0.3 EC, natural light, handheld, ~80% full-frame.

I kind of like the comp with the second bird in behind balancing the image nicely, Also like the sharpness of the first , well done Dan

I like this image Daniel, the bird in the background adds balance to the image, i wish it wasn't so close to the first one, but thats just a minor thing.Like the composition as well.

Very nice comp and love the oof duck in the back. Exposure wise your spot on and I love the water drop on the bill.

Did you put some corn in your lens hood to get them to come to you?:) Even without seeing the direct look image you have I think I would also prefer this one. Techs have all been handled well.

Beautiful one Daniel, the head on pose work well, the droplet sure adds well and OOF bird add to the story.. congrats...

Really like the concept and the composition.

The sharp focus on the front bird along with the water drop is what makes it.

The only thing that continually draws my eyes when I first look at it is the dark reflection of the background subject....for some reason that's where my eye is drawn first?

Daniel, I like the comp very much and the exposure is excellent in my eyes. I don't think there is anything I would do differently here.

I love it Daniel. The focused bird has so much character, all together with the water drop on the bill.
The OOF bird if composition wise great too. Nice one!

What cute factor! Agree about the dark reflection, that pulls my eyes away too. If anything, and I am probably being very tough, just a little separation between the head of the front duckling and the rear on would be best. For my taste I guess. But I doubt it is a huge matter. thanks for sharing. Excellent work! :)
