Very nice, Al! I've seen these kind of bugs too, don't know the name though. Like the sharpness and all the pollen sticking to him. Only thing I would suggest would be to have a slighter lower angle so that the bug has just the green BG behind it.

Hey Alfred, great details and colors, the pollen adds a real nice touch.

I know the name of the insect but can't think of it right now...I'll get back to you, though!

Lovely image...the pollen takes it over the top. Lovely BG and the light on the top of the flower is perfect - soft but still able to see such great detail!

Great detail and sharpness. Beautiful colors and wonderful BG. The only thing is that I would have prefered a slightly lower angle.

As a pollination biologist, this is the kind of insect shot I love the most! It's a soldier beetle in the family Cantharidae, genus Chauliognathus. You have C marginatus & C pennsylvanicus in Florida. The vast green bg adds a nice open feel to the image. The yellow in bg is a ray floret, part of the flowerhead. Its inclusion tells you where the beetle is, so shouldn't be removed/altered. I would've liked a tad more DOF to pull in the antennae tips but that's tough with this angle. Very nice!
