Start praying that I find some great birds on the Michigan coast next week because I am sure tired of only seeing them hanging off of my feeders!

Canon 40D, EF 400mm f/5.6L
f6.3 @ 1/80th, ISO 400
Manual mode, pattern metering, handheld, late evening light
Processed in ACR & CS4 with a small crop and a round of noise reduction and a surface blur on the BG.

Hi Jules, I am not a big fan of feeder images but this one is very well done: well framed, perfect post and HA, EXP and SH good. And these types of images sell to the magazines. TFS.

I too am not a big fan of feeder images, but I agree with Artie's critique. Pretty sharp for handheld with a non-IS lens of that focal lenght with such slow SS! I must admit that I have approximately 0 such feeder images in my files...but come to think of it, yes there are many of these in magazines.

I like how you got the point of focus on the bird and not on the feeder !!! Well done I like it a lot !!!

I like the pose, BG, eye contact and light. Maybe you could try a setup next to the feeder.

Axel, I've been thinking about doing just that. I need another storm to knock down a medium sized branch that I can hange between a couple of my feeder racks and I'll be ready to go.

Julie, I agree with above, but I think you received the ultimate compliment somewhere in there! I like the composition, overcomes the feeder quality of it and well done with the sharpness.
