Howdy All,

Since this is my first image post here I thought I would use this friendly Dunlin to wave a greeting to everyone! Early morning light on the arctic tundra of Barrow, AK. I know some of the names and a few of the faces around here. I hope to get to know more of you in the future and definitely enjoy viewing everyone's images.

Hi Brian! I like the appropriate title :-)

This guy looks rather friendly. Nice golden BG. Good exposure, and comp (was this taken as a vertical, or cropped from horizontal?). As posted it could use a bit more sharpening to bring out the fine detail, but I have no doubt that it must be tack sharp viewed at full size.

Hope to see more from you!

Cool pose, light, angle, setting and BG, the open bill adds to it. I agree regarding more sharpening and maybe some lightening of the eye. Thanks for sharing.

Setting, light, pose and BG are lovely.
I love their black bellies in the summer.
On my monitor it feel like the beak is sharper than the face.

Welcome Brian, and the posture suits the title. I really like the light in this, together with the lovely colours, both on the bird, and in the BG. Good to see the hint of the tongue, and well captured.

Welcome Brian. I like it. I could think of a dozen captions for this shot. Being from the south shore of Lake Erie I expect to see some good warbler images from you!

Hehehehe, he does look very friendly.

Bit welcome to BPN and I love your choice of first post :)

Light is beautiful, perfect exposure, clean BG and sharpness.

Hope you feel right at home here!

BLZ, Great to see you here. What took you so long <smile> How is the alleged Stacy?

What year is this from? Sweet light and pose--that neck looks weird. I do like the head angle and the tongue angle.

Thanks All, Sorry for the tardy reply. The site was down and it has been fairly hectic around here. Going back to the original raw it is lacking fine detail in the neck. Daniel is a sharpy, the shot was cropped from horizontal, the bill held up ok but the feathers fell apart. I will include cropping info in the future. Hey Artie, this was June 2007.

Good Shooting!

Brian - the background, light, pose, plumage, delicate moss and short tundra vegitation - it all came together on this one to make an excellent image. I can't wait to get up there.
