This flower has several common names to include dog-toothed violet, adder's tongue, and trout lily. It is a member of the lily family and is a fairly early bloomer. It usually blooms in April here in Ohio.
Picture taken with a Nikon D1X with a 70 - 200 MM F2.8 lens. ISO 200, 1/1125sec at F5.6

Very interesting flower, soft light too. I would have probably walked to the right a bit more to get it off center.

Love the soft light also, I wish the leave tip was not clipped though. I would try it as a centered vertical crop.

I don't know if it was possible or not here but I would have tried to go a little lower (an little bit makes a huge difference at times) to try to get a cleaner background. Vertical and closer too.
