very nice image., I like the rich colours, and nice light... the background could use some NR.

What a beautiful bird! Reminds me of a redpoll but with alternate colours. I agree the BG could use some NR, and the comp is rather tight at top. You could have easily quadrupled your SS by opening up the aperture one stop, and raising your ISO (just to put more "keeper" chances on your side).

Lovely background and perch and a nice photo of a cool looking bird. Agree with Daniel that it is a little tight as presented. I'm wondering how a vertical comp would work in this situation.

Good Shooting!

That's one good looking bird, Daniel got all the comments.
Other than tight comp I really like it.
Agree with Brian about vertical comp. That way you could have taken care of the
virtual tail (you can't see the tail but it feels awkward if you crop where the tail is supposed to be)
in a better way and allow more space on top.

Hope to see many more here:)

I would have gone with ISO 400 and also a wider aprture. Fill flash would've helped IMO. It looks too contrasty on my monitor.
Agree that some NR will help.
Nice light though, comp and colors. Congratulaitons!

I agree with the above comments. Nice light, pose, and HA. I could see this as a vertical. You might try toning down the bright parts on some of the leaves. IMO it is a little oversharpened.

Keep them coming.
