Hi, many places like Machu Picchu prohibit tripods. I have encountered this previously during my travels; they do permit monopods.
Who is using what, is it a combo walking stick, what lightweight head are you using?
Thanks,

Hi Jay
I had a well known brand (Can't remember now !!!) from London Camera Exchange which had a built in pan & tilt head that lasted me for 20 years.
Now have a Velbon Up-4000 (which I could use the P&T Head but prefer not to).
Only use it for landscapes & seascapes.
Quite happy with it.

Induro MXA-45 monopod. It's just exceptional! Also, the MH-01 Really Right Stuff monopod head with the B2 Pro L quick release clamp completes my outfit.
This is more than enough to hold up my 500mm with no problem.

Jay,
You may want to check out the Feisol monopods. I have one and I'm very happy with it although I don't use it much. I hand hold about 99% of the time now. The RRS monopod head is also an impressive piece of gear. I don't have one, but if I used my monopod more often, I would buy one.

Just remembered my original monopod was a Benbo and took a 500 T. mount lens no problem.

I love my Gitzo monopod and RRS monopod head with a conventional release.
