Hi all. Things have been a bit slow lately, especially with the heat! But, last week I was out with some friends to Joe Overstreet, near St. Cloud. There was a few suspects, including this bobwhite. It was a first for me, so made the morning with while. The perch was not my favorite, but when they went for the ground the grass would be too tall, so maybe next time. Taken with the D300, Nikon 500 f/4 with 1.4TC, f/7.1, 1/200, iso 640. C&C as always welcomed.:)

Super pose Nancy, and congrats on your first. I would tone the midtones down, and take a bit off the top.

Love the light and the BKGR. Would take a bit off the bottom. (If you don't like the perch, why opt to include more of it???) It needs more sharpening, esp. the face and head.

Don't see nice images of Bobwhites presented here. Agree with Artie's comments, and would sharpen the legs and feet.

Nice light, BG, and exposure. Repost is tons better. I might darken the background just a tad, as it is bright, and distracts from the bird IMO.

Great find, I've seen this species only once. I like the light, pose and BG. The repost looks better, I might darken it a tad using the midtone slider.

Lovely light, pose, BG, colors, detail, and species, perch is not ideal but the overal image has great impact. Repost does work better.
Congratulatons!
