Well, my wife was nice enough to buy me a yellow moon flower yesterday, so tonight I had a few minutes.

Hey, Randy, this somehow looks a bit dark on my monitor and so can't really see clearly a lot of the details there. If it could be brighter, with that background, I think the overall image could look stunning. I would also try a square crop if this were mine.

I agree with Desmond. Fabulous flower!

Thanks for the input, Desmond & Anita:

I do most of my editing in a very dark room, and tend to prefer slightly darker photos to begin with, so sometimes they do end up too dark on the web. Here is a perked up version, with a square crop per Desmond as well.

Thanks again.

Randy

Repost is perfect! I love the way the yellow light is flashing through the entire bloom. Beautiful work, Randy!

Right now, the brightest spot in this image is 198 in RGB values. That's not much brighter than a mid-grey. White with details usually is about 245.

Certainly a darker photo carries a different kind of mood though.

The repost is a big improvement, Randy. Good sharpness and DOF, and I really like the subtle color tones you captured.

I like the original best.
It looks like the yellow is burnt out in the middle of the repost.
Fantastic flower!

The brighter version is great! The original was a little dark on my monitor.
