Head angle not ideal, but I'm happy to have captured him leaving the perch.

What excellent detail with the DOF taking in the whole bird! Great position too- I'll be happy when I can get a shot like this. The overall image does look a bit flat to me however. Also our version of the BSK here in OZ is much whiter than the smoky grey of your subject- is that how they are on your side of the world?

I love Elanid kites. So beautiful. That red eye. Good self assessment on this Gerrie. In addition, I would try to sharpen the head a little more.

Superb species, perch, BG and detail, if something I wish for a better head angle (although it doesn't looks that bad at all) and a fully down wing position.
Congratulations!!!

Great capture here Gerrie! I like the action and the eye! The BG seems to be a bit noisey though.

Hi Gerrie.
Moment well anticipated and captured. I do agree that the colour looks a bit off.
I hope you dont mind but I have adjusted the white, black and grey points with curves and I think it looks a bit better.

Great timing for the take off Gerrie, and I like how the outer wing follows the perch. Good sharp detail, against a great OOF BG.

Colour looks better on Dave's repost. Super timing and am still waiting for one of these!
How you enjoying the 600 Gerrie?

Great action shot. Wonderful wing pose and great BG. I would prefer a head angle a little more towards the camera but this is great as it is.
I think the repost works even better.

Thank you for viewing & commenting everyone. Agree Dave's repost is looking better....Thanks Dave!
Mark, the 600mm is a great lens & I just love the extra reach, but not the extra weight. Will have to start using a tripod.

Well captured image Gerrie, I like the wing position capture here, this BSK does appear a tad grey. Congrats on the lens, if you think thats heavy you should try the 400 ;) with a lens like that you have to start using some proper support to get the benefits...

Thanks for viewing & commenting Ryan. It is much appreciated. I do believe that the 400 is heavear, but then it is also shorter and easier to move around and pan with than the 600 when handheld.
