Hi Bill, Yes it would be better without the upright branch....but IMO it doesn't really bother me in the way the image is presented. I like the HK, detail and position the bird is in. The lighting is soft and I like the subtle use of color. I like it as presented...

Bill, I love the pose and the head. I'm not seeing as much detail in the body area as most of your other images-but it is still quite nice!! Love the High-Key. Good work.

Thanks guys! You are correct about the detail, Denise. There are two criteria that I find makes for good images using this technique. The first is an image that is low contrast, with soft shadows(or even none), and secondly, considerable textural detail already present. If there isn't any, the filter has nothing to work on.Parts of this image were not up to par on both respects. regards~Bill

I really like the pose of the cormorant, and the small branch doesn't bother me at all. Well done.
