This was my second stop in Brittany where we stayed for 2 nights. Took many compositions of the outside walls and had a nice morning to shoot. As you can see the grounds were manicured which was the case in most areas.

Great colors and composition. What was your focal length?

Hi Rene..oops, I left out the lense. About 17mm which becomes roughly 25mm with the D300.

Dave,
I also like the colors and comp. My eye is drawn to the upper left path...I can see that it's inclusion keeps the lower triangled flower scape in balance, as they lead you there... I wonder if a slight camera angle shift would have helped here, this is only a small issue for me though.
Also, the image seems a little soft on my screen...j peg compression?

Nice Composition Dave. Eyes easily from the front lawns to the tower at the back. I agree with Jerry. I mage is a bit soft. A little more sharpening would help.

Hi Gerald and Ramesh, I was debating the path on the left also but hadn't made up my mind if it brought attention to the viewer or not. I think the compression has softened it a bit since it's sharp on my monitor.

I think it is a lovely post card :); and, I like the red in the turret window! Well done.

Hey Dave, Nice points given above.....I'd lean towards path removal. Nice use of the flower bed shapes to point us towards the city walls and turret.

My first thought was the pleasing flowerbed shape leading my eyes into the image. Congrats Dave. Excellent perspective. I long to see some castles again.
