A whistle blows, as steam billows
Black soot spreads through the air
"All aboard!" shouts the little man
And the train departs with grand ol' flair
Wooden benches, ornate rails
Emblem embossed leather seats
Metal platforms, smokers' rooms
On the old train my heart beats
Pulling out, leave the platform
Steaming out into the wild
Seek new frontiers like our elders
The train it don't stop day or night
Tunnels, hills and mountain ridges
Rain, hail, wind and sunshine
Sleet 'n' snow, we're ready to go
And conquer yet another night
Whiskey, cigars, lavish feasts
The lounge car is full of life
Roll the dice, or play some poker
Pay your dues or you'll be in strife
Look who's there! Who's that lady
Standing by the window
Tears streaming down her cheeks
Looking lost, deep in sorrow
I walk up and say "Hi, my lady.
Is there something I could do?
To stop the tears and chase your fears
Let me sing my song to you"
I know your heart has been raped
And it's broken, torn apart
Let me make that rascal pay
For you I will tear out his own heart
"Tickets please!" says the conductor
I found mine, "Here you go Sir."
"Thank you young man." says he
As he walks down the long corridor
I walked the distance, to the lounge
See the bold men all playing games
These here mean business, it's real poker
Oh my Lord, I just saw Jesse James
His eyes found mine, as he stared at me
I lost my mind; he stood from his chair
And said: "What you want boy?"
Raised his gun, and onto the floor I fell
I hit the ground, writhing in pain
Screamed for mercy, no one cared
I opened my eyes as I came to
Thank God it was just my nightmare
Black soot spreads through the air
"All aboard!" shouts the little man
