Ring-Billed Gull (2nd winter)

When out for a littl fun and practice exposing whites. This guy was very cooperative and let me crawl up pretty close to him. Background slants to the lower left but that is the natural slope. Don't know if it is bothersome. I lightened the shadow of his head and his eye and I also cloned out a shell that was to the right of his foot.

Nice head turn, and good job on the whites. The light is harsh though, and I would like to se more room on the right, and less on the left.

Super low angle Brian, and I like the pose. You controlled the whites perfectly, infact you could bring them out a little more without blowing them. Great feather detail and overall nice and sharp. I would lighten the eye a little more, and wish for more space on the right.

Thanks for comments. The width here is full frame and I too wish I had the extra space. I guess I could try to add canvas but don't know if I'd be able to pull it off with all the colors going on in the BG.

Exposure looks good and you made the best of the difficult light angle.

Looks like a good exercise. The light is harsh but the whites are not overexposed. Sharpness and pose look good, too. I agree on putting the bird further to the right but would lighten the shadow on the back even more.

Not the ideal light and it seems that it could use some CW rotation. Nice pose and BG though. Congratulations.

I love the BG and the feather detail is really beautiful. Would wish for a tad more room on the right.
