I photographed this adult Peregrine against an ocean BG on an overcast morning a couple of weeks ago. I like the eye contact and wing blur. The drab color palette helps accentuate the color around the eye. 1/800 is about as slow as I go with the Peregrines; to get that I had to shoot wide open and use ISO 1000. The Mark III does a nice job with high ISOs.

Personally I am not a fan of wing's blur although same times I like it, in this case I would've rather to have the bird perfectly frozen but I guess that was not possible given the light conditions you had to handle. Still, a great image, very powerfull, with great light, great angle, excellent detail, BG and comp. Love this species and I hope I can get one of these someday.
Congratulations.

Very impressive at such a high ISO. I don't mind the wing blur as it shows this is the fastest recorded animal on Earth. Love the HA and detail in the feathers. Composition is great and so is sharpness. Wouldn't change a thing. Congrats.

Sweet angle with nice motion blur in the wing tips. Sharp where it counts.

Super comp, and the angle of flight shows the dorsal view nicely. I like the detail, and the falcon stands out very well against the darker BG. Well captured Doug.

Great angle and eye contact. If you did not do any noise clean up, I'd say the 1D Mark III is fantastic at that iso.

One more beautiful image of this species from you.. Loved the eye contact and blurred wings.. I would sharpen the head a bit as the tail is drawing all the attention...

Did really well. Sharp where it matters. Like the monochromatic colors too. Suits it.

I like the topside view, monochromatic feel and eye contact. Maybe a tad more contrast?

I thought about more contrast, but this is what the bird looks like Axel.

I always run noise reduction David, no matter the ISO. The Mark III preserves detail remarkably well at high ISO IMO, and the noise is easily dealt with.

I love these top-down views with open wings. excellent exposure and sure is good performance @ high ISO! I agree the pale light enhanced the beak and face.

Hi Doug: Love the head angle here and the fanned tail. Agree with Axel on a tad more contrast or maybe a pop of reds in the feathers to bring out the browns a bit more. Marina
