As children we would summer
Down at the shore
The smell of the ocean
Would greet at the door

Skeeball games, spinning wheels
All the blinking lights
Ferris wheels, ice cream cones
Filled our boardwalk nights

Sunny days on the beach
Playing in the sand
We'd jump the waves without care
You would hold my hand

Our cousins came down
We'd play cards on the lawn
We'd sing "Traveling Man"
And giggle till dawn

Those days are long gone
But the memories still last
It makes you my sister
You're part of my past

This makes me want to go to Rye Playland sooooo badly, and I mean right now. I don't even know if Rye still exists, but that 's the amusement park we used to go to during the summers when I was growing up in the Bronx.

Terrific job of capturing that "summer at the beach" feeling, Denise. And the photo is funky!

That is nice Denise. :) I love the image you posted with it. I have been to these playland things with rides I think twice in my life. That's about it.

It awakens the child within. Thanks for sharing.

I never got to do this as a kid but darn it if I don't feel like I've lived it now. Very cool use of imagery, Denise.
