Well, hi everybody!
I've been trying to get this species under nice conditions and all the work finally paid, today, this beautifull bird perched right in front of my chair blind. I actually expected him to show a little later and that whay light is a tad harsh. Tomorrow I'll try to get a backside view if him with a better BG and I'll also locate myslef a bit farther away from the perch to get better chances to play with composition.
Hope you like it though. Enjoy.

It's a beauty Ramon, lovely perch too. Exposure, lighting, bg, it has it all. Maybe a bit more room all around would have been nice, but the shot is stunning to say the least.

Real nice shot here Ramon. The lighting is real appealing and the detail is fantastic, a nice FF for 300mm.

Stunning capture. Great pose, sharpness and exposure.
Like Art, I would also like a bit more room.
There is a (dust?) spot on the left edge near the tail.

It's no wonder your images are so stunning, you try to improve on perfection! Yes, the bird may be a bit tight in the frame but everything else about it is fantastic. Good luck with your next attempt with this beautiful subject.

Beautiful hawk Ramon. It is very clean and gave you a great HA IMO. I don't find the light too harsh but better wait for the pros to say it!
I find the image a bit tight on the right but it does not bother me so much since I prefer this 3-2 ratio.
You need to clean your sensor!

Cool pose and angle, good sharpness, perch and BG. Another vote for a wider crop and I would lighten the shadow of the beak.

Another vote for a wider crop.

Thanks Axel, but this is a full frame, no crop here :) I will see if I am lucky tomorrow and correct a few things I would like to improve amng them , the distance between me and the bird.

Ramon, are you sure this is a Roadside Hawk...? (Buteo magnirostris)
I saw the picture and did not pay enough attention to the species, and I ask because I took a picture of a Costa Rican RSH 2 weeks ago* and mine is gray and has a barred pattern... also has a yellow iris...
I just want to make sure that we are talking about the same species.

*my images of the RSH are so bad that I send them to the trash can!
I am including a yes I know, terrible picture of our RSH version. Just to compare species.

Ramon this is excellent, I like to see more space around the bird it's a bit tight IMO, maybe you can add canvas and clone around. Perfect sharpness.

Yes I am sure Juan, it could be just a subspecies, but I am sure about mine :)

Wow, that is sharp and detailed. I sure don't mind the light quality...it looks quite nice! I also hope that you get another chance to capture more images with a little bit more room, but it is hard not to love this gorgeous image.

Love the sharpness and color. My only suggestion might be to tone the legs down a bit.

Really good stuff here Ramón. Excelent image all around, fantastic sharpness, pose, DOF and light. Terrific eye contact. I know that this is full frame but the bird is a bit tight in the frame. Another vote for toning down the legs and for opening the shadow under the bill. Una imágen tremenda compañero :-)

Ramon,

Perfectly sharp, great detail, love the eye, wouldn't change anything about it. To my eye it works great at full frame and I don't think it's too tight at all. Congrats! Now excuse me so I can go back and look at it again...

Ramon,

Man what a killer image. You could clone-in some more room top, left and right, if you wanted. About the only thing that I don't like is the white on the perch (bird poop :). Otherwise, lovely image.

Amazing what great light does to a picture. Although I don't mind this comp I can see how some more room would help. Really enjoy your work Ramon.

Hi Ramon,
Congratulations for achieving the shot you wanted. This is a very sharp and detailed portrait of a raptor. Good work for fitting it all into the full frame, although I might setup a bit further back next time to have extra room for possible cropping later. Btw, for your next time out, I hope the Hawk will show up in softer light so there won't be a dark shadow under the chin.
Best of luck, :)
Andy

It is probable but as I understand, there can not be two birds with the same name, not even in English since it is taken as a universal name, may be Ramon is right about the subspecies.

Superb details, great light and just love the white eye and the alert pose. The White Eyed Buzzard found in India has an almost identical coloured iris.

Ramon, this is my favourite of the three images you've posted of this hawk. Absolutely sharp and great pose.
